Texture Paint – Base Crackle Effect

The base itself tells a lot of the story, and even tabletop quality models need a decent looking base in my opinion. I’m not doing anything fancy or difficult here. Again as noted on the previous page, the nord army I am painting is set on a crackled dry earth plain with some tufts of grass. To continue down that path, when the base brown is dry I will apply some special effect crackle paint from the Citadel line to the base. Notice in the image above it will go on wet and like a cream, and when it dries it will crackle up. You can see the brown of the base underneath it (which is why we painted the base brown so that the color would show through instead of the white!)
