Designation 0348

Designation 0348

Silence in the darkness was its sole companion during the whole of the initial forming process. Artificial womb offered it all it required to continue. Its substance was protected from the outside effects, and nurtured to maturation level necessary to be projected into the birthing chamber. After the successful completion of the procedure it was transferred to the nursery portion of the cloning complex. There it could for the first time fully comprehend its being, albeit in a very limited way of the new born. It was then approached by the individual that it instinctively new it must obey in every aspect of its continuation. It was given by him its designation – Pale 0348 – and immediately redirected for a basic recognition test.

Falling over equals discontinuation. It was the first lesson it learned during its preliminary close combat training session. On the battlefield, the subject laying on the ground level offers a high percentage for it to be deleted from the wider encounter by the variety of reasons. Impaled by enemy blades, crushed by the beast’s hooves, or even being trampled by its own forces, can quickly lead to termination of the particular specimen. Pale 0348 swore that it will never happened to him. Foolish sentiment, which was proven false at the very same session. Despite this shameful error its score was deemed sufficient enough that it was assigned to the field subsection of the training division. The alternative was to be repurposed for the Arena, which in most circumstances led to a pre-determined discontinuation.

100 Kingdoms subcategory deployed their forces directly before its master’s spire. In their basic understanding of the wider world they were making a show of strength. Pale 0348 was not sure if its master even acknowledged their beings. Probability was big that its regiment deployment was simply an automatic response of the defense systems, more akin to the pest control rather than a real threat reaction. It observed in silence how the humans were posturing waving their colorful standards, and shouting something in its force direction. It recognized from its tactical training most of the units currently deployed, and classified them as no threat, with the sole exception for a heavy assault advantage, designated by the 100 Kingdoms subcategory as the Steel Legion. It stood there impassionate, while both armies constantly added additional assets to themselves. For every human unit, the spire’s reaction protocols deployed a matching number. It took a better half of the day cycle to finally resolve the equation in a form Pale 0348 expected least – a negotiations. Representative of the 100 Kingdoms subcategory met with the Pheromancer variable in the exact middle of the no mans’ land territory. It took no more than a few minutes to end the procedure, and both forces to withdraw to their respective native locations. Leaving to it quarters, Pale 0348 puzzled itself on the situation, wondering why the humans were not simply crushed?

Pale 0348 easily avoided the clumsy swing of the primitive axe, and swiftly retaliated with its rapier. Discontinuation of the Nords subcategory specimen was instantaneous. Alongside its regiment of Vanguard clones, it has fought for a better part of an hour already, facing constant charges of their primitive adversaries. It could not understand why these basic humans were even being registered as a threat to its master projected plans. It hypothesized that maybe it was a show to prove its master’s forces superiority compared to his peers in other locations. Despite its feelings on the matter, it admitted to itself that it was enjoying the experience. Shortly after discontinuing another primitive, its regiment faced a much more challenging opponent. A Nords imperative, called a Jarl in their rudimentary speech, decided to finally show its worth. Pale 0348 made a mind note to personally delete this specimen from the battle equation. Its intention was interrupted by a sudden appearance of the brightly decorated Avatara husk. Big bio-construct clearly announced a challenge to the Nords imperative. Its primitive mammal brain was unable to resist, and it charged the Avatara followed by its retinue. Pale 0348 almost laughed when the husk’s huge glaive made a wide swing, effortlessly cutting in half all attackers alongside two of the clones that tried to join the fight. It was the right of the pure born to be indifferent for the safety of the ones without the recognized selfhood.

It was some kind of reptilian beast of burden commonly used by the Dweghom subcategory that forced it to act in a defense of the Biomancer variable present on the battlefield. Huge creature was equipped with a weird howdah manned by the tree specimen, two of which operated something that looked like a weapon’s protrusions. Their function was revealed almost immediately when the entire squad of the force-grown drones was discontinued by the flaming conflagration. Pale 0348 calculated in an instant that beast’s current trajectory will inevitably lead it to the position occupied by the highest valuable asset on the battlefield. Biomancer variable was totally oblivious to the upcoming danger, and it was highly unlikely that he could evade his deletion. Pale 0348 surged without hesitation in the direction of its better, imagining the honors it would be granted for a successful rescuing process. Two paces before reaching its objective it noticed that it will not be able to proceed without complications. Dweghom beast’s handlers decided to fully unload their weapons in its direction. Desperately trying to accomplish its denoted mission parameter, Pale 0348 decided with a heavy heart for a disrespectful maneuver. It jumped with all might its limbs allowed, and knocked a Biomancer variable out of the way of the attack.

It felt a pain never perceived by it before. It was a strange and very negative experience. It wanted for the ordeal to stop, desperately trying to force it out of its body. None of its previous training had prepared it for a such level of organism disturbance. Slowly it managed to reassign portion of his awareness into the world outside it. It led it to the discovery that an engagement with the Dweghom subcategory was over. Apparently, its master’s forces were victorious, which fueled it with a strong impulse of joy. It wanted to smile but a painful agony reminded it of its current condition. Despite this, it felt a hormonic rush of excitement leading to a conclusion that a Biomancer variable was approaching its position. Pale 0348 felt an emotion of pride fulfilling its being, its task completed despite the overwhelming odds. It forced itself to open one eye, to be able to fully comprehend inevitable gratitude. It watched the Biomancer variable terminating its path next to it, and for a brief moment their eyes met. His better impassionate visage looked like calculating something, and then after a short moment, he uttered just a single sentence, directed to his assistant drone – Reclamation pools.
